First impression: Philips M1X DJ, spinning plates with iPad – Bright

DJ apps are nice, but nothing is as rewarding as actually turning knobs and wheels. Philips M1X DJ combines both.

The M1X DJ is technically a combination of speakers, amplifier and mixer. With a dash of audio in a tuft of Bluetooth and a plug for your iPad or iPhone. It can be used as a Bluetooth speaker or as an interface to the djay app them to operate and mix. The Lightning connector ensures that the device is only valuable for those with an iPhone 5 or later or a recent iPad with Lightning connector. Anything else is not running on it. Should Apple come up with five years that a lightning 2 connector is, this has become a very expensive Bluetooth speaker with a profusion of buttons.

Good app integration

The integration with djay app is fantastic. What you see on the screen matches (in real time) with what you do on the buttons. Disadvantage is that so djay the only app that can be used with the buttons on the box. I asked my comrades DJ Cee Major and cyrilo to sit again at the controls:

Watch on YouTube

Their conclusion is that it is a nice device, especially to learn some basic skills, although a controller to your laptop or perhaps even more convenient and is more flexible. And moreover you the boss of the beach party may M1X with DJ. To 8 thick D-cell batteries, bring extra! It costs 399 euros.

Knobs and sliders enough on the M1X DJ. A sample path and effects would be a nice addition.

Turn the top to fine, you can use the M1X DJ as overpriced bluetooth speaker.

Armin van Buuren may have put his name on it, he turns it rarely there.

We also tested by Armin promoted A5 Pro headphones.

The coiled cord is practical and lock. with a twist

The video was shot with the Canon Legria Mini X, which we tested earlier .
