First iPad-school start in Heenvliet - RTV Rijnmond

Ten schools perform next school tablet computers as the main learning tool. One is in our region: the OBS Pair in Heenvliet

.

Some students will work with an iPad as a pilot. Next school year all students receive their own iPad and thus is called a Pair Steve Jobs School, named after the deceased inventor of the tablet.

Guinea Pigs
“The classroom is off. So the instructions are much more individual and not at half past nine in the class start his all in writing. On its own way and according to their needs,” said Mrs. Sanne.

The students now as a guinea pig to try the iPad, are enthusiastic. “Thanks so handy each own an iPad, because now it’s who insist first on the computer,” says Jesse from group 8. “Many children find it fun so you better keep your concentration,” says Francis Group 7. And Kayleigh Group 7 indicates admit that they find more fun than writing on paper.

Fascinating Education
Blackboard, writing and books do not disappear completely from the curriculum. But there are no more rows stamped, it’s more playful. “You have to give children exciting education and such a device can captivate. But it remains to count, it continues writing and spelling remains,” says school director Ger Heijden the choice to be a iPadschool.

That education students with a tablet computer as a “game” will experience, is the school principal is not an issue. “That is just a powerful and one that is proven. If you learn as one game, it appears that children become fascinated faster and more motivated to learn.”

Euro College
A majority of the House is positive about this educational though there is also skepticism. There are schools who knowingly perform an anti-computer policy. As the Euro College in Rotterdam, an MBO and HBO program for event management, hotel management and business school. “A book gives structure and focus. A computer in the classroom only distracts. You’re all googling, hundreds of hits, play games. Curriculum is better absorbed when you read, see and pronounce,” said Frank van der Burg of the Euro College.

“It is constant puzzle,” responds headmaster Heijden. “Writing can I find a good example. Such a device does not write unnecessary but can very well be used to help practice. There is an application in which the characters are encountered, with voice support then you can see how the letter is formed and can you on the screen to move your finger. then the step that you make on pen and paper, which seems logical to me. “

Most parents enthusiastically
Pair in Heenvliet is an existing school and get on the iPad formula. A choice of the school, parents should be applauding this innovation. “I had already read about it and then I thought this is a nice concept,” says mother Liesbeth Werleman.

also mother Belinda Verweel is enthusiastic: “I think it will remember and learn better.” Mother Cobie Voogt has some reservations: “fine motor skills, I am afraid that is missing from so much computer work.” Yet Cobie mother loves her children at school: “you do not know what you have, what you get.”

criticism
Most of the parents is an interesting development. Yet some parents took the kids out of school just because of the transition to iPad education. “In 75 percent of families is a tablet present, most children have already made pre-school knowledge. Then I think it’s very strange to school the iPad to do away and write. Only in a booklet”

Sanne teacher understands the concerns about too much at the computer. “Then I just get more energy to show that it really can be an improvement.” The guinea pigs are just as enthusiastic: “I feel great, really nice.”
