Review: Logitech Keyboard Folio for iPad - Macworld

The first ‘encounter’ with the Logitech Keyboard Folio for iPad I was very heavy. I was determined to write the Keyboard Folio, this review on my iPad but it came back quickly. It was very used to, and after 5 minutes fiddling I had only three sentences flawless entrusted to my notepad. I found some little.

To come to the point: I find that I can type quite well. I may be blind, I can even type as fast as I talk and I talk fast. Which of key changes, feels an annoying way almost disabled: all the buttons seem to be wrong, touch typing is not, suddenly you’re looking at your fingers and if you want to type as you used to, just as soon resemble the words on your screen hardly what you intended to write.

Ease
The Logitech Keyboard Folio you can easily convert your iPad 2 or 3 to a typewriter. It’s more than just a keyboard: the thing is both a protective case for your iPad, so he can take a beating. The two devices talk to each other via Bluetooth technology, the Keyboard Folio you need before you can use first charging via the included micro-USB cable him

.

I do not think many people use a plastic screen protector on their iPad, I’ll do it myself because I him business and because I would really want to keep him. Therefore you run right at a disadvantage to the Logitech Keyboard Folio: the foil layer on your screen instantly let go if you want to print in the iPad Keyboard folio. It clicks in and out of the iPad is anyway not a smooth process: you should rather do your best to get your iPad in the holder of the Keyboard Folio, and it takes much effort to get back out of it

The screen of the iPad goes directly into the lock mode when you close the fold Keyboard Folio: that’s good because it saves a lot of battery and if that does not work, it is very inconvenient

.

Design and build quality
To create you need for better typing on the iPad, the viewing angle makes the Keyboard Folio use of magnets in the bottom of the case and along the edge of the keyboard. This is cleverly done, but I have the idea that it protects the Keyboard Folio has become very heavy. About iPad has it down, the feeling in his hand with a brick, our assessment is that the two together weigh far more than a small netbook or a MacBook Air, for example,

.

The Keyboard Folio is made of shiny white plastic, and finished on the outside with a plastic cover. At the front lights a faux leather from Logitech logo: we wondered what exactly was the point of a Stanley knife and had been ready until we thought that this review sample course had to return to the fabriant. The Keyboard Folio is not exactly beautiful, but it is robust, your iPad can definitely hiding a beating if he is in the Keyboard Folio. That’s worth something. But still: every time you power it with the iPad touch it picks you surprised by the weight

.

Operation and buttons
Starting with the Keyboard Folio is easy; issue briefly charging until the device has enough power to recognize the Bluetooth signal from the iPad and you’re off . About the type of work I’ve had it, which is really huge and getting used to the question is the OR because you probably will not ever get used to the fulltime Keyboard Folio iPad and you will work. The keyboard is certainly a lot less intuitive than the touch screen keyboard of the iPad.

Then the other buttons: there has Logitech have thought about it by adding shortcuts iPad. With the “FN” button lets you adjust the volume of music among others, pause, next track go while you’re typing in your email program or your notes. Also there, far left above, a home button and also that we find very useful. Furthermore, you can also lock your screen with the press of a button (or actually two, because you have to hold the FN key, of course). The Keyboard Folio is a cutout for the camera and the headphone jack, volume button and lock screen are also accessible. It may also, but there are cases for iPad available where it is less well regulated.

Price & final verdict
The Keyboard Folio costs 100 euros. That is firm to the price for an ugly and heavy keyboard which is not very nice note types. The protective function is fine and the keyboard shortcuts work fine with the iPad. The in and uncheck the iPad works hard. All in all, we can say that the Keyboard Folio is not really a must. A pass is not there.

Pros
• Robust finishing & strong protection
• Well done using functionality magnets
• Viewing angle is fine

Cons
• The in and uncheck the iPad is very difficult
• Firmly attached to the price
• Keyboard not very nice
• Weight
