The U.S. city of Los Angeles is all schoolchildren give an iPad. The tablet computers eventually need to replace all textbooks. The students can now download their books through an app from publisher Pearson.

LA Live 640,000 schoolchildren; initially get 31,000 of them an iPad. The city attracts 30 million from before.

Los Angeles is the second largest school district in the U.S. and according to Apple, therefore, the most ambitious school project where the company has ever been involved. So far there are across the U.S. 10 million iPads in use in schools.
