In appearance, the iPad Mini hardly changed. The tablet has become slightly heavier and thicker, but without direct comparison notice that difference is not.
The new iPad Mini is still made of sturdy aluminum and the tablet is nicely finished. Because of the smaller size, he also is handier than its big brother. However, many 7-inch tablets like the Nexus 7, a lot smaller and therefore better to use with one hand.
However, the aspect ratio of the iPad Mini ensures again that the Apple tablet is much better to use in landscape mode.
Screen
The screen is the most striking change. The resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels to 2048 x 1536 pixels. This difference is clearly visible. Both on the home screen, in videos, pictures and texts Especially read long texts much finer.
The brightness is also slightly gone up, but the color is not improved. The screens of both iPad Mini’s mostly blue and purple tones much less bright than the reality. The difference with the iPad Air and Nexus 7 can be seen well in a direct comparison, but most users will not notice without these tablets. The white display is also fine.
Much faster
the transition from A5 to A7 chip is a big step. It has the same processor as the iPhone 5S and iPad Air. The difference in performance was when two units are small, but because the iPad Mini one generation (A6) leaves, the tablet is noticeably faster.
Virtually all actions, such as launching apps, opening the camera, adding photos to an email and open the gallery, go faster. Also, the difference in playing games great. New games got stuck on the old Mini sometimes and that is completely away from the new model.
Battery and camera
The battery life continues despite the high resolution. The battery is also considerably larger. The iPad Mini with Retina display also makes great photos. They are not comparable with images shot with the latest smartphone cameras, but they are more than adequate for tablets.
The front camera also has larger pixels. There is more light captured what quality in lower light improved. There is less noise and the images appear sharper. Handy for when video calling in artificial light.
Conclusion
The iPad Mini 2 is a big step forward. The small hitches and delays of the first Mini are resolved and if you’ve seen the new screen you do not want to go back to the lower resolution. The iPad Mini with Retina display is what the first iPad Mini should have been.
price (389 euros) is much higher than that of many Android competitors. Which must, however, take all terms of build quality and Android is not as stable as iOS. On tablets The range of tablet apps is now closer, but Apple still stands for.
than hundred euros cheaper Nexus 7 is for many people is probably a good alternative because of the price, but its sharp screen and the performance improvements are the price of the new iPad Mini worth.
